Supplies:
-glass bottle (I used an empty apple cider bottle I saved from New Year's)
-hot glue gun
-tree branch (When picking one, make sure it has enough small branches to hold your
jewelry. Also, don't be afraid to break pieces off to make it just right!)
- at least 2 paint colors (I used some regular, ol' poster paint lol!)
-bristle and foam paint brushes (If you don't have a foam brush, you could try a makeup sponge)
-bath beads (I used this because they smell good, and my mom already had some in her bathroom, but you just need something to weigh the bottle down so it won't fall over easily)
Directions:
Step 1- Peel the label off the bottle. If you're having trouble, put the bottle under hot water and the remove the paper.
Step 2- Plug in your glue gun. While it's heating, draw out your design on a piece of paper, then your bottle. I went for something simple and decided to write 'sisters.' on my bottle, whereas my brother and sister wanted to get fancy with theirs.
Step 3- Trace your design with your glue gun. Wait for the glue to dry; wait time depends on how much glue you used for your design.
Step 5- Paint your bordering colors onto your sponge brush. Put the sponge brush on top of where the colors meet on the bottle and dab it up and down to create the ombré effect. Let dry completely.
Step 6- Repeat steps 4-5 on your tree branch.
Step 7- Add bath beads to your bottle. I used a piece of paper as my funnel. Add your tree branch to the bottle.
And that's it! Hang your jewelry on it and marvel at your work of art! You've just created a fantastical jewelry tree that will instantly become your favorite part of your room! Make sure you return NEXT WEEK for the final jewelry organizer, 'Just for Studs'!
If you do decide to do this or any of my future DIYs, please feel free to send me a picture of your rendition!
